Created in 2006, the Wegner Arboretum Society is the advisory board for development of the Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum and East Sioux Falls Historic Site project. The goals of the Society are as follows.
- To foster educational and recreational experiences in a new community gathering place.
- To preserve the history and natural beauty of the East Sioux Falls townsite.
- To protect precious green space at the east entrance to Sioux Falls.
- To highlight an unusually diverse Northern Plains landscape.

Plant a Tree for Arbor Day!
Arbor Day is traditionally the last Friday in April and is designated to emphasize the importance of planting trees. Groups, classes or businesses wishing to plant a donated tree at the Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum and East Sioux Falls Historic Site are invited to contact Steve Munk or Crystal Stewart at the Minnehaha County Extension Office, 367-7877, or the Sioux Falls Parks Department, 367-8222 to make arrangements.
