Drake Springs Pool Replacement - 4/20/2006 Neighborhood Meeting Comment Card Responses:

  • No. 2: Indoor leisure pool with separate lap lane/instructional pool - Additional lap lanes would be nice. But bottom dollar is user fees and park space.
  • No. 2: Indoor leisure pool with separate lap lane/instructional pool - Looks good. Thank you!
  • No. 2: Indoor leisure pool with separate lap lane/instructional pool - Thanks for asking for public input.
  • No. 2: Indoor leisure pool with separate lap lane/instructional pool - Thank you.
  • No. 2: Indoor leisure pool with separate lap lane/instructional pool - Look at city growth over next 10–30 years. Build to meet needs of all community members, not just kids and recreation.
  • No. 2: Indoor leisure pool with separate lap lane/instructional pool - No. 4: Other: + 8 lanes (minimum) - It appeared to me that four lanes does not adequately provide for our community. I think you need to study the financial return of hosting competitive swim events.
  • No. 2: Indoor leisure pool with separate lap lane/instructional pool - No. 4: Must be 8 lanes - Consider the financial revenue generated from two to three swim meets held at such a facility.
  • No. 2: Indoor leisure pool with separate lap lane/instructional pool - Other: Minimum 6 lanes - Prefer eight lanes.
  • No. 2: Indoor leisure pool with separate lap lane/instructional pool - Keep up the good job you’re doing. Thank you.
  • No. 2: Indoor leisure pool with separate lap lane/instructional pool - (No comments given)
  • No. 2: Indoor leisure pool with separate lap lane/instructional pool - (No comments given)
  • No. 2: Indoor leisure pool with separate lap lane/instructional pool - Generally every aspect of Plan B should be larger to accommodate the entire city. What about opportunity for public/private partnership to modify specific portions of facility. Lap pool options to consider:  1) 25 x 25—8 lane; 2) 50 m—8 lane
  • No. 2: Indoor leisure pool with separate lap lane/instructional pool - No. 4: Other:Minimum 6 lanes, 8 would be best - Sioux Falls continues to grow. It would be nice to see an indoor public pool for the community.
  • No. 2: Indoor leisure pool with separate lap lane/instructional pool - Number of laps should be decided prior to construction because treatment facilities wouldn’t be adequate to add later.
  • No. 2: Indoor leisure pool with separate lap lane/instructional pool - If building with four lanes lap swimming for the first indoor facility means the difference between going ahead with No. 2 or making anything smaller, stay with four lanes. If we can add two or four more, add at time of building—don’t plan on adding to this facility later!
  • No. 2: Indoor leisure pool with separate lap lane/instructional pool - Another advantage of more lanes is the possibility of lap swim while diving board is in use.
  • No. 2: Indoor leisure pool with separate lap lane/instructional pool - No. 4: Other: 8 lanes (No comments given)
  • No. 2: Indoor leisure pool with separate lap lane/instructional pool - Would like to have free swimming lessons—maybe with pass.
  • No. 2: Indoor leisure pool with separate lap lane/instructional pool - Six to eight lanes.
  • No. 2: Indoor leisure pool with separate lap lane/instructional pool - Best thing that could happen to current Sioux Falls.
  • No. 2: Indoor leisure pool with separate lap lane/instructional pool - No. 4: Other: With 2 more lap lanes (No comments given)
  • No. 2: Indoor leisure pool with separate lap lane/instructional pool - I support an indoor pool so that 1) the real estate gets used all year; 2) more wintertime entertainment for families; 3) the weather is often too cold even in the summer to swim outside. It just makes sense to have an indoor pool that can get year-round use instead of a facility that only gets used three months a year. It will keep the “inner city” more vibrant. Please keep it affordable. Thanks.
  • No. 2: Indoor leisure pool with separate lap lane/instructional pool - Eight lanes.
  • No. 1: Indoor leisure pool with one body of water - I would like any of these, but No. 1 is the best.
  • No. 1: Indoor leisure pool with one body of water - I like the slide and lazy river better.
  • No. 4: Other: Outdoor pool - Replace Drake Springs with pools like what is in other places in town. Then use the money you save to allow free swimming. I feel there are special interest groups that are pushing the more expensive indoor pools. It is a recreation center that isn’t as expensive as the rec center that got voted down.
  • No. 3: Outdoor leisure pool with lap lanes - (No comments given)
